Audition Preparation

Conservatory and piano audition preparation

Focused piano coaching with Evelina Vorontsova for serious pianists preparing conservatory auditions, entrance exams, competitions, concerts, recordings, or other high-pressure musical moments.

Preparation

Beyond playing the notes

A strong audition or exam performance needs more than technical accuracy. The panel hears sound, phrasing, style, structure, rhythm, control, and musical imagination.

Coaching may address

  • repertoire selection and program balance
  • interpretation and musical structure
  • sound, tone, voicing, and pedaling
  • technical stability under pressure
  • stage confidence and preparation planning

Who this is for

  • conservatory entrance applicants
  • music academy or advanced program applicants
  • students preparing exams or competitions
  • pianists refining a concert or recording program
  • students unsure whether their repertoire shows their level well
Audition Strategy

What preparation needs to prove

An audition program has to do two jobs at once: represent the pianist honestly and give the panel enough musical evidence to hear readiness.

Level and readiness

The program should match the expected level while staying playable enough to show control, sound, and musical thought under pressure.

Contrast and identity

Repertoire should reveal range: style, color, character, structure, and the student's own musical imagination.

Preparation plan

Work is organized around the deadline, the current state of the playing, and the risks that need attention first.

Coaching Focus

How Evelina can help

Repertoire choice

Assess whether the program shows your strengths, seriousness, technical readiness, and timeframe.

Interpretation

Work beyond correctness into phrasing, structure, style, character, sound, and expressive purpose.

Technical stability

Connect freedom, control, clarity, and sound to the demands of the repertoire.

Performance readiness

Prepare continuity, concentration, opening moments, transitions, and the communication of the musical idea.

Review

What to send before the first step

The better the initial context, the more precisely Evelina can judge fit and suggest the right preparation structure.

Current level

Your study background, current teacher or institution if relevant, and recent musical work.

Audition details

The school, exam, competition, concert, recording project, or deadline you are preparing for.

Repertoire list

Pieces already chosen, pieces under consideration, and any required works or style categories.

Recent recording

A simple, recent video or audio recording helps Evelina hear the current musical and technical situation.

Fit

No guarantees, serious preparation

Vorontsova Academy does not guarantee admission, competition success, or exam outcomes. The goal is to prepare the playing as seriously and individually as possible.

Amsterdam and online worldwide

Audition preparation can happen in Amsterdam or online worldwide. Online coaching may be useful when a student is preparing from another country and can provide a recent recording.

Request review

Audition preparation notes

How early should I start?

Earlier is better when repertoire choice, technique, sound, or program balance still needs work. A short preparation period can still help, but the first request should be precise.

Can Evelina review my repertoire list?

Yes. She can look at level, contrast, technical demand, timeframe, and whether the program shows your strengths clearly.

Does preparation include guarantees?

No. The Academy does not promise admission, exam results, or competition outcomes. The work is about preparing the playing seriously and individually.
